I rarely give books five-star reviews, but the sheer utility of this one convinced me to do it.
Don't make the mistake of thinking this book is just a longer version of the D600's user manual - it's far more than that. To me, this work really felt like a a couple weekends' worth of photography workshops taught through the context of the D600's specific feature set. Which is incredibly helpful because it's easy to find detailed discussions of metering modes, white balance, histograms, etc on the internet, but it's a lot more difficult to translate those concepts from a web page to your specific camera. This book explains these (and more complex) concepts to you while showing you how to correctly use them on your D600, button by button.
Also, this guide covers a surprisingly broad range of topics. I was pleasantly surprised to find a section discussing & offering advice on some of NIkon's most popular lenses, the benefits/disadvantages of buying used lenses and third party lens options. Like I said, this book is much more than a longer user manual. It's more like a one-stop reference guide for almost everything you need.
I started out with this book by reading most of it at my desk with my camera sitting next to me, which was a good way to begin. But for me the greatest utility of this Field Guide was, unsurprisingly, when I took it into the field. I tossed it into my bag when I went on a shoot earlier this week and found myself checking the index/glossary on several occasions when I couldn't get my lighting and depth of field exactly where I wanted it. Because the book is logically and well organized it was super easy to find the information I was looking for.
My final remark has to do with the physical book itself - it's really nice!
