I picked up this book to learn the ins and outs of my new camera, having recently stepped up from a small Canon point and click. I felt overwhelmed by this camera and this book has really helped. It takes everything about the camera and breaks it down into an easy to read format and tells me what every button, dial, and switch does. It also explains the shooting modes and other photography concepts such as aperture and shutter speed, which allowed me to go from shooting in the scenes to controlling the camera myself with more confidence.
I read the other reviews, but it seems like they were looking for books on different subjects. I'm very happy that this book doesn't waste a lot of space on things like using iPads or flashes and it concentrates on the CAMERA itself.
So, I wholeheartedly recommend this book to everyone who wants to learn about the camera and what it can do and how to do it.
(BTW: chapter 6 and 9 talk about using flashes)
