Don't purchase this book if you're looking for technical info or a step by step manual. It's a series of interviews with prominent music engineers. It is interesting to read the interviews of engineers but doesn't attempt to explain a process. Definitely not helpful for a newbie but maybe a good read for a seasoned pro.

I am a serious producer who knows a fair amount about mixing already and I was looking to buy this book for deeper instruction and to have as a reference manual for my studio when mixing projects. The title on this book is misleading... it is hardly a mixing handbook. The interviews are interesting but are not practical for really applying to one's projects. They may give ideas or insights, but that's about it. I wouldn't waste your money on this book. Buy one of the others that are more technical. If you are like me and are just looking to consume every bit of information about mixing that you can get your hands on, it may be an ok buy. Hope this review helps.
