Picked up this e-book a week ago after I started on photography and I was quite pleased with what I got.
It is very easy to get into and it really helped me out with a lot of things like finding the right lighting and positioning myself to get a better picture. All the little things that this book pointed out really made a big difference.
There is also a lot of interesting stuff here that I didn't know was possible even for my digital compact camera. It also gave me ideas on planning which accessories to buy and how to use them properly, and what to look for in a digital camera before investing in one.
There are a few things I really dislike about it like not having example images or illustrations. But other than that, the Point and Shoot: Digital Photography for Beginners and Amateurs is a great buy for anyone interested in photography as a hobby or even as a profession. Not to mention that it's a great deal compared to other photography books on Amazon.

My veteran photographer friends would probably laugh at me if they get to know that I bought this book. They will probably tell me that it is really easy to learn photography and buying a guide book is a wrong move. I am a novice in the world of photography. I liked this book because its contents are informative. You can really learn from it and the best thing about this book is that, it is as if I am talking to a friend explaining everything about photography in a step by step process. In the introduction, the author said that I could learn everything in 21 days. At first I was doubtful, but after 21 days, I am satisfied with the learning I acquired. The book gave me flat advice and instructions. The author cut out all the technical explanation so beginners like me will understand the book easily. There are a gazillion photography books out there, but this one is definitely what you need, if you are a beginner or an amateur, for you to learn the basics. All I'm saying is that, if you want to have concise and quick results, this book is probably what you need. I recommend this book to all who want to take up photography as a hobby. But of course, if you really want to have a deep understanding about photography then you got a lot of reading to do. Overall, I am happy with this book.
