Outstanding book! I really like it. If you want a book that details the operation of the G15 from the very simple basics to more advanced use, then this is the book for you. It goes far beyond what the Canon manual does, and covers material not in the manual. It shows how to set up and use the G15 to accomplish what you want to accomplish, not just the specs of the camera like the manual does.
Early chapters acquaint the reader with the camera and what all the buttons and knobs do and where they are located. Menus and functions are explained in short paragraphs accompanied by pictures to illustrate the menus and settings. Later chapters build on this framework and show how to use the camera in different lighting conditions and environments to accomplish more advanced shooting. One cannot help but become more skillful with the G15 camera after reading through this book.
I read it with the book in one hand and the camera in the other trying out the features as they were explained. It was fun and rewarding. As a result, I can do a lot more with the camera now than I could before reading the book. So it was an enormous help to me.
It is clear that the author, David Busch, is very knowledgable about photography, and the G15 in particular, and he shares his wealth of knowledge in a straight forward and easy way. You never get the feeling that you are being "talked down to". Rather you get the feeling of one-on-one conversation.
Its tone is upbeat and friendly, leading the reader easily along from one subject to another, from basic to advanced, in an inviting way. It makes it fun to learn. Reading is therefore not tedious but rewarding.
