Mastering facial expressions in 3d is tremendously difficult, so after trying out many books, I can definitely say this is the best book on the subject. It covers important modeling concepts, important facial anatomy issues and moves you through several exercises to get you up to speed. If you are trying to learn character animation, this is an indispensable book. I have both revisions and I would say I liked them both.

Such a god-send, this book is! I'm so glad I discovered it. I got a job creating a character animation, and hadn't done it in so long that I needed a leg-up, for sure, and this book was the answer to a prayer. It tells how to structure the face of your model so that you can animate it correctly, how to rig it and add controls for easy manipulation. It's all here, in straight-forward, generously descriptive, easy and fun to follow language. If you're even considering it, then, yes, you should buy this book. It will save you so much stress and headache. Jason is certainly a hero in my studio :-) Thank you, Jason!
