Free Download Motorola Xoom: The Missing Manual – June 2, 2011
In all fairness, I selected this book by reading a "sample" of the writers style and reviewing the "Table of Contents". I liked both! I ordered the book - I also ordered the downloadable Kindle version - and a Kindle Reader for my PC!. My thoughts were to load the book to the computer - bring up the book and study it on my computer WHILE positioning my XOOM to my left (on my computer desk). As I read an instruction from the computer, I would turn to my Xoom and actually carry out the instruction - an affective way to learn something very new to my life. The more obvious choice by most of you would have been to install KINDLE version on my XOOM and just go from book to actual trial useage on the tablet - I'm 76 and brand new to any tablet - my way was far better and much quicker FOR ME.
Two days later, my Xoom was delivered! I immediately gave it a full charge. I booted it up and IMMEDIATELY got the message that it was uploading the Ver. 4.??? UPGRADE!! WOW! I had been reading of its' "soon-to-be-released" new, improved OS - AND NOW I HAD IT!! Admittedly, I had to play around a bit to marvel at this miracle (I have no Smartphone or earlier forms of i-touch, i-pad, Kindle or anything else held in the hand and full of wonderful uses and endless information).
I ran to my computer, brought up my KINDLE READER . . . . AND this wonderful book! Hey! the KINDLE version is in COLOR!!! - printed version ISN'T! Okay, a nice bonus?
Already a Long story shortened. . . . I found out rather quickly that this book, though well written, IS OBVIOUSLY NOT WRITTEN for the new operating system. I was hammered from the start in reading "tap" instructions - trying them on the XOOM - only to find that the action described just didn't happen - HOLY CRAP!!!!!
