I am the typical user advised not to buy this camera. I, up to now, only took photos in Automatic but wanted to learn and become more of a photographer. Almost immediately after buying the camera set off with my wife on a lengthy trip to Singapore, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. We took a very high number of pictures and mainly due to shooting through moving Bus and Helicopter windows ended up deleting almost 30%. The quality of the remaining pictures ran from outstanding to passable. At the time this book wasn't available but when pre-order was possible I did and am over joyed with what I found. Within a few pages capabilities were made available to me I didn't know existed. The explanations along with camera in hand were easy to follow and I know I will now be able to put the camera to much better use than was possible before. I know a one time read is not enough but I am persistant and will take this to a whole new level thanks to continued use of this book. I highly recommend it and believe just about anyone would find it of value. I know there will be those who will say all this information is available in the manual supplied with the camera but then I would believe they hadn't read the book from start to finish.

This goes into much greater detail than the manual that came with the camera and gives real world examples of how the settings can be used. I've learned a lot from what I've read and I highly recommend this book. If you use nothing more than the original owners manual for your Sony, I don't think you'll ever be able to use it to its full potential.
