What a fabulous book! As a photographer who has never had luck with animals, I found this book truly inspiring. From lighting to technique, I learned many things that I will be able to use when working with my own animals- and hoping that I can apply these skills to shooting the rest of the animals on our farm. This book is really comprehensive, offering advice on things such as running a business, building relationships with clients, and donating your skills to charitable causes. It is an easy read as the writer has a fun engaging writing style that makes it almost feel like you are interacting with her. I would recommend this book to anyone- from dog owners to people looking to use their photography skills to build a profitable business.

I'm just an old amateur who enjoys trips to the local dog park to photograph dogs. I give the owners my card with my email address and reply to their requests with my best shots of their dogs. Mostly I do close-ups but also a few action shots.
The author of this book, Lara Blair, has written a book intended for professional photographers (and wannabes) who are interested in working with dogs as subjects. She not only explains the business aspects and her photo techniques, she discusses at length what is needed to attract customers who have too much money. She includes samples of decorating with her pictures. She is very classy. And wow, does she ever make money in Seattle Washington - a great city for fashion and dogs..
Is this book for you? I don't know. I love the book for the pictures. They are dis-similar to mine mainly in the authors very formal approach. .And most of her pictures are better than mine. So I did learn some things to improve my dog pictures.
